TechnologyOne has signed a 10-year digital transformation contract with Cairns Regional Council.

The Brisbane-headquartered vendor will supply the Queensland council with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) IT infrastructure intended to streamline its operations.

TechnologyOne will be tasked with replacing the council’s on-premises legacy solution over the next decade.

The council said its initial tender was for a five-year plan but instead opted for TechnologyOne’s OneCouncil SaaS solution for double the period.

“TechnologyOne was the clear choice because of its solid technology road map, strong reputation and fully integrated, true enterprise SaaS solution,” said the council’s CEO John Andrejic.

“Switching to a high-performing SaaS-enabled environment will remove the complexity of running and updating our software and infrastructure and mitigate many of the risks associated with IT disaster recovery in our tropical region.”

Furthermore, the vendor will be responsible for creating a “simple and engaging experience for customers to interact and self-service online”, according to the council.

“After 30 years of work in the local government space, this deal further validates our business model of a single organisation providing a full enterprise SaaS solution,” said TechnologyOne CEO Ed Chung.

Earlier this year, TechnologyOne posted a net profit after tax of $8.1 million for the first half of 2018. In the same period, the company’s SaaS offering saw a contract value surge of 51 per cent.

The company, which specialises in government digital transformation, alongside financial services and healthcare, recently won an eight-year deal with the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
