Mimecast has doubled its headcount in Australia and made strategic new hires, as it pushes for greater traction in the country amid continuing investment in the local market.

ARN can reveal that the cloud-based email management and cyber security solution vendor has increased its local channel team to five people.

The team itself is set to be led by former Citrix worldwide channel enablement and marketing senior director, Rema Lolas, who has been appointed to the newly created role of channel director, Australia and New Zealand.

Lolas comes to the role with more than 14 years of experience in global channels, enterprise software sales and marketing, working for both international technology vendors and resellers on both sides of the Tasman.

Prior to stepping into the newly created role at Mimecast, Lolas worked in several roles over with Citrix, most recently as senior director for worldwide enablement and marketing, a role she took after almost two years as the vendor’s worldwide mobility sales programs director.

In fact, Lolas spent almost 10 years with Citrix, both in Australia and the United States before moving across to Dell EMC a service provider senior alliance executive for just under a year, the role she held immediately before stepping into her new role with Mimecast.

Lolas’ appointment and the other new additions to the local channel team, which include former Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) service provider lead, Lucy Hardy, who is now Mimecast’s local channel development manager, come after a surge in demand for the vendor’s cloud-based email security services.

Indeed, the vendor has signed up 40 new reseller partners in Australia and New Zealand over the past 12 months – among them, Brennan IT – while also doubling its local customer-base.

“We are dedicated to providing our customers and reseller partners with a legendary experience and service,” Mimecast A/NZ country manager, Nick Lennon, said. “To this end, we are continuing to invest in people and our reseller partners.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rema as our local channel director. Rema is recognised in the industry as an outstanding leader and has a strong track record, which she will be able to put to good use as we grow our channel team and build on our momentum in Australia and New Zealand.

“Watch this space, as we have a raft of announcements planned for the first half of 2018 that will reinforce Mimecast’s commitment to ensuring the success of our reseller partners,” he said.
